Users | Authentication and registering V6

Popsell accounts vs Brand accounts

  • Popsell accounts are used to access the Popsell App and the Popsell Manager. Users are authenticated by their unique Popsell account (authenticated by email and password).
Specific rights must be granted to a user to enable access the Popsell Manager, but in V5 and V6, the accounts are the same (unlike separate accounts in v4.x)

  • E-Commerce visitors are anonymous or authenticated via their Brand accounts, e.g. SalesForce Commerce Cloud or Shopify (applies to V4.4 to v6.0)

  • Community members who are not using the Popsell App are authenticated via their Brand accounts, and are accessing all the Community Features through widgets embedded on the website (since v6.0).

The creation of new Popsell account with a user role 7 or 8 can be triggered without customer interaction. This must be mentioned in the e-commerce website Terms and Conditions.

The creation of a Member of the community, i.e. creation of a user role 0 to 6, or update of an existing role from 7 or 8 to a Member (0 to 6) must be done with the user’s consent. He must opt-in the community Terms and Conditions through an on-bording process.

Required information to sign-up as a Member

  • Terms and Conditions opt-in (boolean) (True is required to proceed with registration)

  • Firstname, Lastname (Required): this information is provided by the Brand account

  • Alias: optional, the user must fill in an alias to hide his name to the community

  • Email address (Required): is provided by the Brand account

  • Location: Optional

  • Visible to other Members of the community (boolean, true by default)

New Members: customer registration process

Here are all the different ways customers can register in the community and become Members:

  • The visitor or customer places an order on the website. On the final payment confirmation page, the registration process can be triggered.

  • The visitor clicks on a link or button on a specific web page, e.g. a page presenting the community.

  • The visitor clicks on a link or button on the Popsell community widget to sign-up (“login or register to the community”) (hidden if the user is a logged-in Member)

  • The visitor clicks on a widget frame embedded in the Brand account page

    • If not already a Member, this widget will display a text an a button to join the community.

    • Note that once the user is registred as a Member, this widget will display the Member information and features, such as his gamification score, and a button to access his Popsell profile on another widget.

Existing users on V4: migration path to v6

Existing Member on V4 without a Brand account

1/ The user tries to open the URL of the previous V4 App (e.g. ba111od.community)

  • The user is redirected to the home page of the ecommerce website (e.g. ba111od.com)

  • A welcome popin is displayed:

    • “Welcome {firstname} to the new version of the community. To access all the features as a member of the community, you need to login to your account on this website, using the same email address {xxx@xxx.com} and recreate a password”

    • + Button “Login”

    • “if you want to use another email address, please contact the Brand team”

    • + Button “contact the brand team”

  • Once the user has sign-in or sign-up, all the community features will be available

2/ The user opens the Brand website and logs in or registers

  • Once the user logs in or registers on the Brand website, all the community features will become available. Accounts are merged if the email adresses are the same.

3/ The user opens the Brand website and opens the community widget

  • The user can click on the link “Log in or register to the community”

  • Case 1 : the user is not logged-in:

    • A pop-up message is displayed : “You must first log-in or register on the Brand site” + Button to access the brand account page

  • Case 2 : the user is logged-in

    • If his email address is the same, then all the features are already available (see previous paragraph 2/)

    • If his email address is different, the on-boarding screens are triggered and he will create another account.

      • If needed, the Brand team will be able to correct it on the Popsell Manager (delete the new account, modify the old account by changing the email address to the new one).
